About Us
From a young age Beatrice had always had a flare for creativity and making clothes. At the age of 7 Beatrice was bought her first sewing machine and given scraps of fabric from her Nanny’s scrap bin. With this she started to create clothes for her dolls. She would trace out the dolls body shapes onto paper and adapt them into pattern pieces. From this she was then able to construct the dolls clothes. Her passion grew for sewing through her teenage years and after realising this would be her chosen career path, in 2014 Beatrice graduated with a BA Honours degree in Historical and Performance Costume for Stage and Screen.
After graduating, Beatrice spent her first year working as a trainee maker for UK Productions Ltd in Blackpool. During her time here she gained confidence and experience in making and altering costumes for national and international theatre productions.
Her time at UK Productions gave her the foundations and basics of sewing which aided her through her early career years working for Jane Law Ltd, in her workroom in Worthing, West Sussex. During these years, Beatrice worked as a trainee graduate and junior costume maker working on several high-profile films, creating costumes for principle characters. She gained an expansive range of experience and knowledge from Jane Law and her team during this time. From time to time Beatrice still works with Jane and her team.
In 2018 Beatrice joined Liz Poole Ltd and her team in Ditchling, near Lewes, East Sussex. During her time here Beatrice quickly progressed from junior costume maker to a senior costume marker. The projects Beatrice became involved in where mostly for theatre, opera, film and television. These included making pieces for West End hits like Hamilton, Anything Goes, Frozen the Musical and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production of Cinderella, as well as Operas from the Royal Opera House in London and Glyndebourne Opera House in Sussex.
In 2019 Beatrice was fortunate during her time at Liz Poole Ltd to have worked on the 2021 film ‘The Dig’ making costumes for Carey Mulligan. Also, in 2019 and again in 2021 while working for Liz, Beatrice was given a position as a senior maker on costumes for season one and two of Bridgeton producing a range of costumes for Nicola Coughlan, Charithra Chandran and Kathryn Drysdale. Towards the end of 2021 Beatrice had the privilege of working with Liz on the sequel ‘Queen Charlotte-A Bridgeton Story,’ as a senior maker and project lead specialising in stomachers and bodices. Beatrice still uses her experience, knowledge and skills gained while working for Liz Poole Ltd to date.
During 2020 and 2021, Beatrice became a senior atelier at the fashion brand ‘The Vampire’s Wife.’ She worked closely with the brands founder Susie Cave, wife of rockstar and musician Nick Cave and their creative cutter Liz Poole at the brands headquarters, in Lewes, East Sussex. During her time here Beatrice was given the opportunity to create some of the brands iconic lame and liberty print dresses. She constructed clothes for high profile celebrities to members of The Royal Family and international Prime Ministers.
At the beginning of 2022 Beatrice was approached by Sallyann Dicksee, tailor and cutter for her company Gatewell Productions Ltd. During Beatrice’s time at Gatewell Productions Ltd she has been given the role of project lead, costume cutter and senior maker. She has been fortunate to work on some exciting projects, from theatre though to film, television and streaming services like Amazon and Netflix.
